As the daughter of Stanley Willard Henson, Jr, a physician and Thelma Burnell Henson Michele Carey whose birth name is Michele Lee Henson was born on February 26, 1942 at Annapolis, Maryland in the United States of America. As a teen, she excelled at playing the piano. At only 13 years old she took home an international prize in the Chicago Music Festival. Fort Collins High School, which was where she completed her high school training in 1960, was the place that the family of her parents moved to.
